Walberswick! Haven't been there for a little while. Made a bit different from Dunwich. We parked our car on the top of Walberswick, by the road next to the wood. Walked down to the beach from there.
What we noticed today was many people walking and driving on the road despite the weather ( a bit windy and still a bit chilly) . It was lovely to see so many people and family outing ( I am guessing...) to walberswick. It is beautiful and amazing scenery over reeds.
We saw kestrel hunting, a pair of buzzard, little eaglet, swans and ducks... I know they are quite common here in Britain, still I love seeing them in their natural habitat. So elegant when they fly, apart from ducks.... they are cuteπ
After our little walk, we drove down to Minsmere for coffee ( decaf). We sat outside the cafe in the blue sky with fluffy clouds. Birds were chirping, jumping arounds, it was so lovely. I felt really content sitting outside listening to birds singing. Then I saw a huge dinosaur! I am sure it was grey heron, looked so big. I do love watching big birds like heron, or any birds of prey.
On our way back in the car, I felt really tired, we only did a little walk, but my body was really feeling it. I could sit on my Trekinetick ( off road wheelchair) but I sometimes want to build my stamina, energy and strength my body... I need to move as well. Anyway, I was shattered by the time I got home. Needed to have some rest....
We had early dinner, vegan pasta with wild garlic pesto ( which I got given when we were in Salthouse) I never made wild garlic pesto, so it was exciting to make and taste. It is delicious. I defo recommend! Just like basil pesto, same principal!
here are some more photos...

Lagoon & the cottage
Full moon, super low tide, mild temperature and sunny, we decided to go to Shingle Street beach for moon watching ( and dips of course) this weekend. We timed for low tide for our dip. It was truly magical. π
Super low tide due to partly the full moon, it created the lagoon by the shore again. Long, calming waves, in & out to the lagoon. Changed the landscape again. It was very 'hilly' up and down... desert shingle beach...so huge, and panoramic. Only Shingle street can create view like this.
On Saturday, it was very calm, no much wind, so surface of the lagoon was very still. As the sun started setting, the light changed and I could see the clouds above on the lagoon. Sky was blue, light pink and misty grey purple over the sea holizen. It was soooo beautiful.
Then about 6:30pm, the moon started rising over the sea holizen. It came out pinkish colour, then orange then golden colour.
It was a bit cloudy and windy than saturday, loads of kite surfers were at the beach...nearly 20 of them, and one of vans stayed overnight from saturday. We could smell they were cooking dinner from miles away on Saturday night, being friendly, tried to have a conversation going, but maybe they didn't hear us ( or concentrating cooking in their van), we were ignoredπ€£.

Can you see the Jupiter?
We saw a lady came for the moon on saturday evening, who came again this evening. She had her friends, enjoying cuppa, chat and watching the full moon. They live locally, and they love watching full moon every month together π₯° .
We dipped in the sea and lagoon on both afternoon. Dipped, got changed, warmed up in our car then went back out for the full moon. It was lovely evenings, never saw sunset and full moon rising at the same time. I thought we must come here more often for sunrise, solstice, equinox, sunset, full moon rise, new moon rise etc...dip in the sea!

Two moon watchers under the full moon
There are from tonight.
We also drove into Sutton heath, former RAF base ( now called 23 parachute regiment, they changed the sign!), we wanted to see what's inside ( nice houses, and wide roads...), hadn't been inside for ages. As we drove in, we saw a community store! Then we saw a little roundabout, then...two army officers ( one had a big gun) standing at a reception like building. As we drove past, I waved at them, they waved me back. What were they guarding? Well, they thought I wasn't a terrorist ( thank god! π€ ), otherwise I would've got shot. π Very curious, I wonder what is inside π€. Rendlesham forest next to it, so they might have an alien, or cloning alien DNA, and creating some civilization? Or ...? What do you think? π»
On our way back from Shingle street in dark, we saw a little animal strolling across the road, I said: " it's a possum!!!" it wasn't π. It was a baby muntjac with mama muntjac looking for night snack getting into someone's garden. It was night like that when we often saw small herd of deer by the forest. Hope I can see them again soon.
What a wonderful weekend. I am a bit tired now, bed soon. Under the full moon....π

It was the first time I actually went away since I as diagnosed with cancer in 2019 summer. I had an opportunity to visit and stay for 4 days in lake district, however the site we were going to stay wasn't suitable for my needs, so I stayed here, Marcus went away on his own to join our friends there.
My fatigue wasn't too bad, and it was local, only 20mins away from where we live, and flat. So it was ideal for me to stay. I booked for a few nights to hire a 1800 off grid house in the middle of Walberswick nature reserve. No neighbours, foot path runs behind the house, but we saw hardly anyone walking there. Saw a few dog walkers, that was it! Beautiful footpath inside the private land too, leads to the Blythbugh water.
It was fun to light the fire pit on the first night, Marcus went to the woods to find some woods to burn in the pit. Weather was hot for those three days we were there, so all wood pieces on the ground were pretty much dry, burnt really well. There were plenty woods to light fire for shower and hot tub.
We had shower in the morning, light fire in the outside bathroom. the bathroom was cute and warmed up very quickly, hot like sauna! Only needed a few woods to get fire going and hot water.
I had a bit nap on the grass ( on my yoga mat), I felt mozzies were eating me alive, stingy and itchy really quickly. i didn't spray myself mosquito repellent, so ended up having over 20 bites on my head! π
On second day, we went to Walberswick beach for quick morning dip, there were a few people already for picnic / dip. The sea was calm and not brown! It was more greeny colour and where very shallow, actually I could sea the sea bed. Of course, we went back in the late afternoon, (about low tide time)for another dip. It really felt like holiday. π To save my time, we just had protein shakes and protein bars for our snacks. I didn't want to cook any food, because I was on "holiday"! Didn't want to eat out either. Wanted to spend time in the house and the beach as much as we could.
Photos above are sunset on the first day. it was beautiful over the water. We walked a bit further down until "footpath" disappeared. i wasn't quite sure it was proper footpath or not, but I could see people walked so we just followed.
the sea was like this calm, all three days. after we checked out, about 11am, we drove to Dunwich heath for another dip. the sea was calm, lovely slow currents. Floating away in the sun. So pleased to have a few days off , so needed. I am still feeling chilled out. Looking forward to another little break. ( in Suffolk or Norfolk!)

Bluebells season! Spring time. We thought we wanted to walk through bluebells, so popped down to Captain's wood ( https://www.suffolkwildlifetrust.org/captainswood ) in Sudbourne, near Woodbridge. Lovely wood, sometimes encounter with herd of deer in the field or a little muntjac in woods. Feel really old, yes, often find old oak trees still standing. Feels like ancient people were watching us walking or maybe watching deer to hunt...that kind of feeling.
Beautiful little woods, sea of bluebells under trees. Every year, we visit here for our spring walk.
As we walked in to the gate, an old lady with a young lad walked by, she told us bluebells were not fully out yet...But it's always good to check it out. And need a fresh air anyway, walking in woods is the best for this.
A couple walked by, we had chat. Enjoy chatting with fellow walkers. Exchanging some tips, places to visit etc. They came from Cambridge, we chatted about wandlebury ring and Magog Hills, another anscient, hill, and roman road in Wandlebury ring. Both are magic place, I definitely recommend for walks if you are near by. I do like the view from the Magog hill, good view of Cambridge and Addenbrooke's! Anyway, back to Captain's wood.
Like the old lady earlier told us, bluebells were not fully out yet, need maybe another week or so. So, next weekend will be definitely back here in Captain's wood. Also, need to visit Raydon wood. Cute woodland with bluebells patch. Both woods, we can pop down to near by beach afterwards for a dip. Love Suffolk, now I live in East Suffolk, coast is never too farπ
Can't wait for more bluebells walks, might as well, make the most of what we have now. My friend Ani said to me, we are so lucky to have beautiful woodland to visit.
I can hear woodpeckers, and birds singing in woods, creating beautiful bird songs and birds of prey floating in the sky....so calming, and feel so grateful for being here.
More bluebells.....next weekend...
